MWM demands military operation in Balochistan against terrorism

Report in Dawn, January 4th, 2021
KARACHI: The Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen on Sunday staged a protest demonstration at the Numaish intersection against targeted killing of 11 coal miners in Machh, Balochistan, and offered its condolences to the Shia Hazara community over the deaths.

Speaking to protesters, MWM leader Allama Ahmed Iqbal Rizvi said that terrorists killed innocent labourers once again and posed a challenge to law enforcers.

He said elements being supported by Indian spy agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), and other anti-state forces were present in Balochistan and their motive was to sabotage internal peace and undermine solidarity of the country.

The leaders urged the national security institutions to take action not only against banned outfits, but also against those who were involved in spreading hatred and indoctrinating youths with hatred.

“Like in the past, the whole nation stands united today against terrorists … the government has to take serious and concrete steps to wipe out terrorism so that desirable results are achieved,” one of the MWM leaders said.

They called for launching ‘Operation Zarb-i-Azb’ against terrorism in Balochistan and demanded immediate arrest of culprits.

Meanwhile, MWM secretary general Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafferi in a statement issued here on Sunday said that the United States, India, Israel and other anti-Pakistan forces had once again become ‘active’ to destabilise the country.

He claimed that banned outfits were involved in furthering the agenda of the anti-Pakistan forces by spreading chaos in the country.

He said that the same elements were involved in the killing of the coal miners who had martyred Frontier Constabulary personnel in Balochistan the other day.

The global forces were conspiring to undermine economic and political stability in Pakistan and under these circumstances, the responsibility of the state institutions had further increased to foil such conspiracies, he added.
