Protests held over Ubauro police action against Sindh Sabha participants

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE: Activists of rights organisations and nationalist parties took out rallies and staged demonstrations in a number of Sindh towns on Thursday to condemn Ubauro police’s action against participants in ‘Sindh Sabha’ caravan that was marching to Rawalpindi, demanding recovery of missing persons of Sindh.

Members of nationalist parties and civil society staged a demonstration and token hunger strike outside Moro Press Club in protest against Ubauro police’s arresting of women in the dark of the night and taking them to police station handcuffed.

Bilawal Dahri, Sardar Abro, G.M. Solangi and others who led the protest and token hunger strike said that mothers, sisters and wives of the persons who had been forcibly taken away had staged the protest, calling for disclosure of their loved ones’ whereabouts and their freedom.

They said that Ubauro police barged into the women’s houses late in the night and paraded them to the police station handcuffed.

SUKKUR: Activists of different nationalist organisations took out rallies in Tangwani, Kandhkot and Sukkur in protest against the Ubauro police’s use of force to stop ‘Sindh Sabha’ caravan at Sindh-Punjab border. The caravan had begun from Karachi.

In Sukkur, activists of different nationalist parties participated in a rally which was led by Sanaullah Mahar, Khaliq, Taj Rind and others. It began from Mohammad Bin Qasim Park and ended at local press club.

They demanded the Sindh government as well as IGP take notice of the police high-handedness, order release of all arrested persons and take action against the SHO, otherwise, people of Sindh would take to the streets and hold strong protests.
