GUJRAT: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers from Gujrat have demanded an equal share in the uplift projects and administrative affairs of the district as compared to their party’s coalition partner, the PML-Q, in an informal meeting with Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.

The CM arrived in the Dinga town to condole the sad demise of former caretaker Punjab CM Mian Afzal Hayat with his family. The deceased was the elder brother of PTI MPA and provincial parliamentary secretary Mian Akhtar Hayat and father of Mian Mubeen Hayat, the district general secretary of Gujrat PTI.

Special Assistant to the CM on Information Firdous Ashiq Awan was also accompanying Mr Buzdar who offered prayers for the departed soul and eulogised the services rendered by the deceased for the people during his political career spanning over five decades.

Later on, the CM held a meeting with the PTI lawmakers from Gujrat, including Syed Faizul Hassan, Saleem Sarwar Jaura, the district president of PTI, Chaudhry Arshad, Tashfeen Safdar and ex-MNA Rehman Naseer Marala at the Kolian Shah Hussain residence of Afzal Hayat where the participants discussed the overall situation of uplift and administrative affairs of region, particularly Gujrat district.

Sources said the lawmakers complained that the uplift schemes proposed by them could not get proper funds and now as half of the party’s government tenure was over and time was limited to initiate and complete the schemes during the remaining period.

Moreover, the PTI lawmakers said the lawmakers told the CM to provide them with equal opportunities in uplift and administrative matters of Gujrat compared to the lawmakers of the PML-Q.

Talking to Dawn, one the participants in meeting said he had told the CM that the PTI lawmakers did not have objection to entertaining demands of the PML-Q but while doing so, the PTI men must not be overlooked.

MNA Tashfeen Safdar Marala from Kharian told the CM about the poor state of affairs in NA-71 (Kharian and Sara-i-Alamgir), which was won by the PML-N man in 2018. She said the entire constituency was being ignored in terms of the uplift schemes.
