Local officials in Parwan province say the provincial highway police chief was killed by a roadside bomb.
Abdul Wase Sayed Khaili, the police chief of Parwan province, said that four other soldiers, including the provincial highway police chief, had been killed in the incident.
According to Khaili, the incident took place Sunday night in the “Abdi Bai” area of Parwan, wherein the vehicle carrying the provincial police commander collided with a roadside mine.
Earlier, the province witnessed the firing of five rockets at the Bagram military airfield.
Parwan province in the north of Kabul is one of the provinces, Taliban presence is widely felt in the region and is active in some provincial areas.
