BAGHLAN, Afghanistan – The Afghan National Army (ANA) has defused at least two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in Baghlan province, said the Ministry of Defense in a statement Sunday, avoiding possible infrastructure damages.
“#ANA prevented the destruction of two bridges in Chashmai Sher of Baghlan province today,” said the MoD in a tweet.
According to officials, the Taliban insurgents planted the bomb, targeting at least two bridges at the location.
“#Taliban had placed IEDs under the bridges to demolish them,” the tweet added. “ANA discovered and defused the IEDs and prevented the destruction of the bridges.”
The Taliban did not immediately comment on the claim.
