BNP-M will not hesitate to resign from assemblies

by Saleem Shahid in Dawn, Dec 7th, 2020
QUETTA: Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal said on Sunday his party would not hesitate to quit assemblies if the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) took a decision of tendering resignations.

Speaking to journalists here, he said the PDM leadership would meet on Tuesday in Lahore to take important decisions. “The BNP-M will not hesitate in tendering resignations if the PDM decides to do so,” Mr Mengal said, adding that his party would abide by the PDM decision.

He said that the government had been panicked by the large public meetings of the PDM. The Punjab government had failed in stopping people from attending the PDM’s public meeting in Multan, he said, adding that the alliance’s public meeting in Lahore would be decisive and could prove to be the final nail in the coffin of the “selected rulers”.

He said the struggle of the 11 opposition parties’ alliance was for the supremacy of parliament, constitution and freedom of media and judiciary in the country. “The PDM will not abandon its struggle till the removal of the selected government,” he said.

Referring to his party’s six points, the BNP chief said that the issues of Balochistan could only be resolved by implementing these points. On the basis of these very points his party had supported the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government after the 2018 elections, he added.
