TANK: Two policemen were injured when a police van came under attack here on Saturday night.
The attackers were stated to be proclaimed offenders.
According to an FIR lodged by Assistant Station House Officer Hafizur Rehman, a mobile van of the Mulazai police station was on a routine patrol in the area when proclaimed offender Umar Khitab Marwat and his accomplices opened fire on it. As a result, constable Umar Shah, who was driving the van, and constable Kalimullah were injured.
The personnel retaliated to the firing, but the attackers escaped taking advantage of darkness. Later, the police recovered a motorcycle from the crime scene.
The injured cops were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Tank, where their condition is stated to be stable. A search operation was launched afterwards, but no arrest was made.
