A special unit of the Afghan National Police (ANP) defused at least four Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) after a “point-to-point” search in several provinces of Afghanistan, said the Ministry of Interior Affairs in a statement Monday.
According to the statement, security forces carried operations in capital city Kabul, including Sar-e-Pul and Faryab provinces, where they discovered the explosive.
“The engineering teams of ANP following point-to-point search operations, managed to discover & defuse four IEDs in Kabul, Sar-e-Pul & Faryab provinces,” said the MoIA in a tweet.
Officials did not provide further details, but said “the terrorists had planted the bombs to target the innocent civilians.”
The Taliban did not immediately comment on the incident.
Usually the Taliban claim responsibly for roadside mine explosion and similar explosives throughout Afghanistan.
