KARACHI: Police’s Counter-Terrorism Department on Friday claimed to have arrested two members of a banned outfit allegedly involved in targeted killings in the metropolis.
“The CTD police along with the personnel of a sensitive institution carried out an action in a SITE locality on Thursday night and detained two suspects identified as Syed Mohammed Ali Raza and Aga Hasan,” claimed officer Mazhar Mashwani.
The officer believed that their two accomplices namely Karar Husain and Ausat Ali Rizvi managed to escape.
“The held suspects belonged to the banned Sipah-i-Mohammad Pakistan,” said the CTD official.
Ausat Ali Rizvi was “running a sleeper cell of the outfit”. He was involved in reconnaissance and targeted killings of people.
The officer said that these suspects were involved in the killings of Dr Mehmood in 2011, and Shahid, owner of Shahid Autos in Malir in 2013; Isa Baloch in Clifton in 2013; and two brothers Mohammed Tanveer and Mohammed Tauseef during an armed attack on a bakery in Khokhrapar in 2014.
The statement issued by the CTD said the victims were targeted on “religious grounds”.https://www.dawn.com/news/1590214/two-alleged-hitmen-of-banned-outfit-held
