PAKTIKA, Afghanistan – Security forces have defused at least two Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) during a search in Urgon district of Paktika province, said the Ministry of Defense in a statement Monday.
According to the authorities, the explosives were planted by the Taliban militants at the location, who are well known for their terrorist activities and plantation or roadside mines throughout Afghanistan.
“2 IEDs which were placed by Taliban on public roads in Urgon district of Paktika province, were discovered and defused,” said the MoD in a tweet. “Lives of tens of civilians were saved as a result.”
The Taliban did not immediately comment on the incident.
Meanwhile, in a news from Herat, at least 11 Taliban killed and further six wounded during an operation carried by the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) in Pashton Zarghon district of the province Sunday.
“11 Taliban were killed and 6 others were wounded after they attacked #ANDSF positions in Pashton Zarghon district of Herat province, yesterday,” said MoD in a tweet.
