At least one person was killed and five more were wounded in an explosion near a private university in Maidan Wardak province on Sunday evening, said local officials.
The bomb was placed on a surrounding wall of the private university in Maidan Shahr city, the center of Maidan Wardak province, said Dadullah Fedaee, spokesman for Wardak police.
Sahrifullah Hotak, a member of the Provincial Council in Maidan Wardak, said three people, including Ghiasuddin, a commander of Hizb-e-Islami, were killed in the blast.
Hizb-e-Islami has not commented on the incident.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
