Taliban Face Heavy Retaliation across Afghanistan

HELMAND, Afghanistan – At least 16 Taliban killed and further nine wounded during a battle with Afghan National Defense Security Forces (ANDSF) in Nawa and Nahre Sarar district of Helmand province, the Ministry of Defense said in a statement Tuesday.
According to the statement, security forces defused some 20 Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) planted by the “Taliban on public roads” at the location.
“16 Taliban were killed and 9 others were wounded in Nawa and Nahre Saraj districts of Helmand province, as a result of reciprocal attacks of ANDSF last night,” said MoD in a tweet. “Also, ANDSF discovered and defused 20 IEDs which were planted by Taliban on public roads in these districts.”
Meanwhile, during a separate operation in Uruzgan province, 12 Taliban were killed and further five were injured in reciprocal attacks of ANDSF in Dehrawood district of the province.
Security forces seized a “large amount of their weapons and ammunitions” after the shootouts.
In Zabul, at least seven Taliban were killed and three other wounded, after they attacked ANDSF positions in Mizan and Shajoa districts Monday. www.khaama.com/taliban-face-heavy-retaliation-across-afghanistan-34534/
