JaPa to submit 10-point proposal before EC: by Manik Miazee in Dhaka Tribune, Oct 9, 2017

The Jatiya Party (JaPa) is set to place a 10-point proposal before the Election Commission including the proposal of deploying armed forces during the upcoming parliamentary election.

As part of the Election Commission’s ongoing dialogues with registered political parties, JaPa has been asked to send its representatives to sit with the commission on Monday.

According to party presidium member Sunil Shuvo Roy, the 10-point proposal will comprise the enactment of an independent Election Commission Act, as well as authorising the commission to appoint all contractual employees during upazila, UP and parliamentary polls.

“The proposal will also seek for the Election Commission’s authorisation over the coordination and execution of administrative power during the polls,” Sunil added.

He further said JaPa chief HM Ershad and Secretary General ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader jointly finalised the agenda of the meeting on Sunday.

Most of the presidium members of the party are set to attend the meeting.

Earlier in December last year, JaPa placed the same proposals before President Abdul Hamid.

The Election Commission is scheduled to sit with the representatives of BNP and the ruling Awami League on October 12 and October 16, respectively, as part of its road map for the next parliamentary election, which is likely to be held in late December 2018.http://www.dhakatribune.com/bangladesh/politics/2017/10/09/japa-submit-10-point-proposal-ec/
