The investigation agency of International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) handed over its report to the prosecution on four alleged war criminals of Satkhira including the district Jamaat-e-Islami ameer on Wednesday.
The agency claimed to have found involvement of the four accused in killing six persons, torturing 14 people and raping 2 women at Satkhira sadar and Ashashuni upazila during the 1971 Liberation War.
They are—Jamaat ameer Abdul Khaleq Mandol, 72, M Abdullah Al Baki alias Abdullah Hel Baki, 102, Khan Rokonuzzaman, 64, and Jahirul Islam alias Jahirul Haque alias Tikka Khan. Of them, Abdul Khaleq Mandol is in jail and rests are absconding.
All of them were involved with local razakar forces, the collaborator of Pakistani army during the war.
At a press conference yesterday, agency’s Coordinator Abdul Hannan Khan said they started investigation in August, 2015 which was completed in February this year. The agency took accounts of 60 witnesses against them.
The four persons were involved with incidents of crimes against humanity at Betna River area of Ashashuni, Gobindapur, Faizullahpur, Dhulihor, Kathanda, Boikari village and Achaipara village.
The probe report was written in six parts, each 52 pages, while other documents were also filed in six parts with 329 pages in each part.
Of the six charges, the first one said that on August 18, 1971, from Betna River at Budhata under Ashashuni thana, razakars captured six marine commandos and shot two of them to death. The other four were taken to Diamond Hotel, the razakars’ district command office at Satkhira’s Sadar road, where they were tortured brutally.
The second charges described abduction of killing of one Komoruddin Dhali on August 18.
The third charge said that the razakars abducted one Sabdar Ali and his son Shahidul from Dhulihor bazar. They were taken to Diamond Hotel and were never found again.http://www.dhakatribune.com/bangladesh/war-crimes/2017/02/09/evidence-found-four-satkhira-razakars/
