report in The Express Tribune, Mar 7, 2021
Security forces conducted two intelligence-based operations (IBOs) on Saturday, killing at least eight terrorists including three commanders of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan tribal district, military said.
“These terrorists remained involved in terrorist activities against security forces, law enforcement agencies and locals of the area since 2009 including IED attacks, firing, target killing, kidnapping for ransom and extortion,” military’s media wing, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), said in a statement.
The operations were conducted in Boya and Dosalli areas of the tribal district, the ISPR said, adding that all three commanders belonged to different groups of TTP.
“During the exchange of fire, eight terrorists including three terrorist commanders Abdul Aneer alias Adil (TTP Toofan group), Junaid alias Jamid (TTP Tariq group) and Khaliq Shadeen alias Rehan (TTP Sadiq Noor group) were killed.”
ISPR said that the terrorists were also involved in recruiting other terrorists in the area. Security forces recovered a huge cache of arms from hideouts, it added.
On February 4, security forces killed four terrorists during a similar operation in North Waziristan.
The military’s media wing said that the operation was conducted after the security forces observed the presence of the terrorists in a compound in North Waziristan’s Mir Ali area.
The ISPR said that 42-year-old resident of Chitral Naib Subedar Aminullah and a 24-year-old resident of Landi Kotal Sepoy Sher Zamin embraced martyrdom while four other soldiers sustained injuries during the operation.
