7 Haqqani network militants involved in terrorist attack arrested in Paktia KHAAMA PRESS – Wed Jun 01 2016

A group of 7 Haqqani network terrorists were arrested by the Afghan intelligence operatives as they were busy in terrorist activities.

The Afghan Intelligence, National Directorate of Security (NDS), said the terrorists were arrested during an operation conducted in Gardez city.

According to NDS, the group was involved in major terrorist attacks including Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attacks in this province.

The anti-government armed militant groups have not commented regarding the report so far.

Haqqani network was formed in the late 1970s by Jalaluddin Haqqani. The group is allied with al-Qaida and the Afghan Taliban and cooperates with other terrorist organizations in the region.

The network is accused of staging numerous cross-border attacks from their base in North Waziristan, including the 19-hour siege at the US Embassy in Kabul in September 2011.
