PESHAWAR: Over 4,000 personnel of Levies and Khasadar forces in seven merged districts of erstwhile Fata have completed the first phase of police training.
The police department in collaboration with Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, imparted training to the personnel of Khasadar and Levies.
Officials said that with the completion of the first phase of training, integration of Khasadar and Levies personnel had also completed.
The four-month training of the Levies and Khasadar personnel started in September and around 4,000 personnel were trained by expert trainers of Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police.
The training module comprised counter-terrorism, quick reaction force, policing, dealing with improvised explosive devices and explosives, awareness of modern equipment, physical fitness and firing practice.
KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, senior officials of the army, FC and police had observed the ongoing police training on various occasions, the officials said.
They said that around 900 personnel of Levies and Khasadar were passed in Miramshah, North Waziristan, 400 personnel of the two forces in Kurram district, 260 personnel in South Waziristan and 50 in Bajaur district.
Passing out parades in Khyber, Mohmand and other areas of the merged districts were also held.
The officials said that the second phase of training would start in different areas of erstwhile Fata in January next year.
The passing out parade ceremonies were held under Covid-19 protocol. Families of passing out personnel, senior officers of Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, police and other guests attended the ceremonies.
