39 militants killed in Afghan forces counter-terrorism operations: MoD KHAAMA PRESS – Sun Mar 06 2016, 3:57 pm

At least 39 anti-government armed militants were killed in the latest counter-terrorism operations of the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) in various provinces of the country.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said at least 29 militants were also injured and 10 suspected militants were arrested during the same operations.

A statement by MoD said at least 16 of the militants were killed in Abkamari district of Badghis province and 20 others were wounded.

The statement further added that 19 militants were killed and 5 others were wounded in a separate operation in Lashkargah city of Helmand province.

At least 3 militants were killed in Imam Sahib district of Uruzgan province and 2 others were wounded, MoD said, adding that another militant was killed, 2 militants were wounded and 5 others were detained in seprate operations in Maiwan district of Kandahar and Nahr-e-Saraj district of Helmand province.

MoD also added that various villages were cleared during the ongoing operations in Dand-e-Ghori district where several weapons, ammunition and explosives, including a 85mm mortar, a rocket stand, 12 rounds of PK machine gun ammunition, 3 hand grenades, 1 suicide bombing vest, 2 sacks of explosives, 1 ambulance vehicle, 1 rocket launcher, 2 AK-47 rifles, 35 boxes containing various explosives and ammunition, 7 rocket launcher rockets, 6 mortar rockets, and 1 pistol were confiscated by the security forces and 4 suspects were arrested.
