33 militants killed after attacking army posts in Helmand: MoD KHAAMA PRESS – Mon Mar 07 2016

At least 33 anti-government armed militants were killed after attacking the Afghan army posts in southern Helmand province of Afghanistan, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) said.

A statement by MoD said at least 14 militants were killed and 17 others were wounded after attacking the army posts in Kajaki district on Sunday.

The statement further added that 19 militants were killed and 5 others were wounded in a separate attack on army posts in the vicinity of Lashkargah city during the same period.

MoD said the clashes did not incur any casualties to the local residents and Afghan army personnel.

The anti-government armed militant groups, including the Taliban insurgents group have not commented regarding the reports so far.

Helmand is among the volatile provinces in southern Afghanistan where anti-government armed militants are actively operating adn frequently carry out insurgency activities.

The growing violence forced the Afghan armed forces to retreat from several posts during the recent weeks, a move the Afghan defense officials said was aimed at preventing further casualties and bolster security of key central bases. www.khaama.com/34-militants-killed-after-attacking-army-posts-in-helmand-mod-0270
