3 suspected militants killed, including those involved in Turbat massacre

TURBAT: At least 13 suspected militants, including assailants accused of killing 20 labourers in Turbat, were shot dead on Monday morning during an operation conducted by Frontier Corps, Express News reported.

On April 11, more than 20 gunmen stormed a makeshift camp on the edge of Turbat city in Kech district and methodically killed the labourers after identifying they were from Punjab and Sindh.

Acting on a tip-off, the security force raided Turbat’s Gogdan area and arrested, Hayat, a key commander of banned Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) among others.

“Security forces with the help of secret agencies have launched the massive search operation in and around Turbat,” spokesperson for FC Balochistan told The Express Tribune.

Several were also wounded during the operation, he confirmed, adding that FC personnel have also arrested another commander Zareef.

Frontier Corps spokesperson Khan Wassey told The Express Tribune that the security personnel also recovered automatic weapon and rocket launchers from them.

“The operation was carried out by the special wing of Frontier Corps and Mekran Scouts with the help of a security agency on the directives of provincial government, “ he added.

Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik had formed a joint investigation team to probe into the incident from all angles and submit its report within a week.

Police had also registered the case for the Turbat massacre against Dr Allah Nazar, the elusive commander of the outlawed Baloch Liberation Front (BLF), and his spokesperson Gohram Baloch.

Inspector General FC Balochistan Major General Sher Afgun said the security force will make every sacrifice to maintain peace in Balochistan.

Balochistan CM Dr Abdul Malik Baloch was also supervising the operation personally, sources confirmed.http://tribune.com.pk/story/869111/13-suspected-militants-killed-including-those-involved-in-turbat-massacre/
