At least three policemen were killed and two further wounded, including a civilian, in an explosion near a police checkpoint in Herat province Sunday morning, local authorities confirmed.
The bomb was placed on a motorbike and detonated near to a police checkpoint, said Abdul Ahad Walizada, a spokesman for Herat police.
Meanwhile, eyewitnesses said dozens of shops and nearby houses were damaged in the explosion.
No group or individual has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
HERAT, Afghanistan – An explosion reported in Police District 10 of Herat province in west Afghanistan, local authorities confirmed.
