Naogaon: Two suspected members of the new faction of the banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (New JMB) have been arrested from Atrai upazila of Naogaon district.
Police arrested Md Robiul Ripon, 32, and Md Parvez Gaddafi, 20, around 9pm on Monday.
Atrai police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mobarak Hossain said: “Acting on a tip-off, we conducted a drive in Kashiabari sluice gate area and detained the enlisted militants with jihadi books.”
He said a case will be filed in this regard.
Earlier in November, detectives had detained five suspected members of New JMB with arms, ammunition and explosives from the same upazila.
According to Rapid Action Battalion, Sarwar Jahan alias Abdur Rahman alias Abu Ibrahim al-Hanif was the chief of New JMB while Gulshan attack mastermind Tamim Ahmed Chowdhury was the second-in-command of the group.
