Mirpur, AJK: Corruption on its peak in Power department District Mirpur with collusion of employees and officials of the department. Department officers and subordinate staff are involved in large-sale theft of electricity from all sectors of the city and suburban areas, with the connivance of officers of Department.
The power department has taken diffusion over all the other departments in corruption. It was learned in a survey that in the houses of the officials and workers of power department 2 to 5 air conditioners are fitted and they all have turned off their electricity meters. Monthly bills of 50, 100 and 216 units are issued of these slam meters and thus by this way only the employees across the district are involved in monthly 5 crore rupees corruption.
The meters of private consumers are being adjusted by taking few thousands extortion, giving 10 million dent to government treasury.
According to survey highly specialized corruption method is used to fool the government by installing high-speed digital meters in homes and commercial centres of those consumers who refused to gave extortion to these employees and officials. These high-speed digitals meters consumes more units and secure their wallets by getting more money.
