An official of a federal intelligence agency was martyred in an armed attack on Sunday afternoon in the Nazimabad area. The man was shot dead near AO Clinic within the jurisdiction of the Nazimabad police station.
Police said that as they received the information about the firing incident, they rushed to the spot where they found a man lying critically wounded. He was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) where he succumbed to his injuries.
DSP Muhammad Safdar of Nazimabad Division said it was found during the investigations that the deceased man was associated with an intelligence agency and he along with his colleague had gone for some official work when three unidentified armed men riding on a motorcycle came and stopped near them.
The person sitting on the back of the motorcycle took out his pistol and shot the man. The suspects fled the scene after the shooting. The deceased man received three bullet wounds in his upper torso, including chest, which became the cause of his death.
The investigators found spent bullet shells at the crime scene that were sent to the forensic division of the Sindh Police. The DSP remarked that was too early to confirm the motive behind the murder as police were investigating the incident from various angles and they were also trying to obtain footages from the nearby CCTV cameras so that the culprits could be identified. The deceased man is survived by a widow, two sons and two daughters. He hailed from Mianwali.
