Sipah-e-Sahaba terrorist, Lyari gangster among four killed in encounters: police: report in the News, Nov 9, 2016

Karachi: A suspected terrorist of the banned Sipah-e-Sahaba and a Lyari-based gangster were among four people gunned down by the law enforcement agencies on Tuesday in three separate encounters.

SSP West Nasir Aftab said the Manghopir police were patrolling Northern Bypass when they saw two suspects riding a motorcycle.

The police signalled them to stop but the men riding the motorcycle opened fire on them. The police retaliated and one of the men was injured in the shootout while his associate escaped.

The injured man was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. He was identified as Yousuf Qudusee, a member of the Sipah-e-Sahaba. A pistol and a grenade were found on him.

The SSP said Qudusee’s name was linked to cases of sectarian killings and further investigation was under way.

Later the Sipah-e-Sahaba staged a protest alleging that Manghopir SHO Ghulam Hussain Korai had killed Qudusee in a fake encounter.

The SSP said considering the the sensitivity of the issue, he had ordered the suspension of SHO Manghopir and initiated an inquiry to ascertain the facts.

‘Gangster’ killed: A suspected Lyari-based gangster Anwar alias Haddi was killed in a shootout with police in Pak Colony. The official the Pak Colony police were tipped off about the presence of gangsters in Old Golimar. The police conducted a raid and in the ensuing encounter, injured Anwar while his associates fled. Anwar was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Weapons were found on him.

The SSP said a few days the police had raided a locality Ghulam Mohammed Village in Old Golimar, Pak Colony on the information disclosed by arrested gangster Asadullah. After a shootout there, the gangsters had managed to escape taking advantage of narrow lanes including Anwar alias Haddi and Bilal alias Bahiya. A huge cache of weapons was found at their hideout.

‘Street criminals’ killed:  Two alleged street criminals were killed in an encounter with police in the Central district on Tuesday night.

SSP Central Muqadas Haider said the New Karachi Industrial Area police were patrolling the area when they saw two men robbing citizens.

When they saw the police, the robbers opened fire on them and towards Gabol Town. The police chased the fleeing robbers and after a brief encounter arrested both the men in an injured condition. Their two pistols and a motorcycle were seized.

They were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where they were pronounced dead. One of the robbers was identified as Naeem alias Tariq.

‘Terrorist’ held:  Rangers arrested a terrorist belonging to a banned outfit while snap checking near Shahdadkot in rural Sindh. He was identified as Abdul Rehman. Sources said the paramilitary force found 350 audio cassettes and 45 CDs containing sectarian hate-inciting material in his vehicle.
