S. Korea keen to invest in GB

ISLAMABAD, March 16: The Board of Investment (BoI) announced on Wednesday that it was evolving a tax-free policy for investors to make Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) a haven for investors.

During a meeting with GB Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah, BoI chairman Saleem Mandviwala said that South Korean investors have shown interest in power generation, which could overcome the shortfall of 80MW in the province.

He said that the region has all the potential to become a heaven for the investors and the present government is evolving new policies to facilitate both the local and foreign investments.

“We need to develop roads and infrastructure in the region and investors are already keen to invest in construction of all-weather airports in Gilgit and Skardu,” he added.
Chief Minister GB Syed Mehdi Shah told Mandviwalla, that an era of development had been started in GB with serious work on Basha Dam, detailed engineering of Monji Dam and in the shape of expansion of Karakorum Highway. http://www.dawn.com/2011/03/17/s-korea-keen-to-invest-in-gb.html
