Dhaka café attack ‘arms transporter’ held in Natore

Police claimed to have arrested a “Neo JMB” leader, who carried arms and grenades used in the Holey Artisan Bakery attack in Dhaka’s Gulshan on July 1 last year, in Singra upazila of Natore early today.

Arrestee Abu Jara alias Rash, one of the key planners of the militant attack, had carried arms and grenades from Chapainawabganj to Dhaka for the attack, Asaduzzaman, superintendent of police in Bogra, told our Natore correspondent.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of detective branch (DB) of police from Bogra arrested Rash, 24, who hails from Naogaon, in Singra bus stand area around 5:30 am, said Bogra Additional Superintendent of Police Sanatan Chakrabarty.

3 ‘Neo JMB’ men held in Jhenidah: Report in the daily star, July 28, 2017
Jhenidah: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested three suspected members of Neo JMB’s ‘Sarwar-Tamim’ group from different parts of Jhenidah yesterday.

The arrestees are Rana Hossain, 25, son of Amirul Islam; Monwar Hossain, 30, son of Mujibor Hossain of Sadar upazila and Ashraful Alam, son of Shohor Ali of Kotchandpur upazila.

Tipped off, a team of Rab-6 conducted separate drives in Sadar and Kotchandpur upazilas and arrested them around 5:00pm, said Major Manir Ahmed, Company Commander of Jhenidah Rab-6.

Later, they were produced before the Senior Judicial Magistrate SM Maniruzzaman where they made their ‘confessional’ statements under section 164.
