QUETTA: The local administration launched a special campaign against encroachments and profiteering in Taftan, a town at the Pakistan-Iran border, and the nearby town of Dalbandin on Sunday.
Encroachments erected near the border were demolished.
The government has built a market near the border in Taftan and allotted shops to traders. But the shopkeepers have raised encroachments in front of their shops, creating hurdle for visitors.

ISLAMABAD: Former Chief of Army Staff, General (retd) Raheel Sharif is expected to be appointed defence advisor of Saudi Arabia-led military alliance of 39 Muslim countries to fight terrorism.
Raheel Sharif, who recently retired as Pakistan’s Army Chief, has arrived in Saudi Arabia as a Royal Guest in a special plane.

KARACHI: The federal government has issued at least seven special permits to dignitaries of Bahrain, including King Sheikh Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al-Khalifa, to hunt the internationally protected bird houbara bustard in the country during the 2016-17 hunting season, according to sources.

LAHORE : Saudi government while taking action on intelligence report has arrested 18 Pakistani women and men working in the country as beggars.
With the beginning of Umrah season, beggar mafia has become active and has sent at least 210 Pakistani beggars to Madina on Umrah visas.
Police is conducting raids to arrest other 192 people. The detainees have been kept in Madina jail with women in barrack no.56 and men in barrack no.47.

ISLAMABAD: The two-day visit by Commerce Min­ister Khurram Dastgir Khan to Iran, which was scheduled to start from Wednesday, has been called off, a spokesman for the Mini­stry of Commerce told Dawn on Tuesday.
He declined to disclose the reason. The visit aimed to pave way for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) by the end of 2017.

Islamabad: Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Wednesday said that there are 364 Pakistani imprisoned in Saudi jails.
Replying to a question in Senate, he said these jails include Riyadh, Jubail, Buridah, Dammam, Khober and Oniza.
Aziz also said the embassy of Pakistan is extending all possible assistance to Pakistani prisoners present in jails and deportation centres in the Kingdom.

ISLAMABAD/RIYADH – Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on Sunday agreed to continue fighting terrorism and reinforce the mechanism to roll back extremism with even greater vigour.

GWADAR: A man was killed and two others were injured in a rocket attack by Iranian forces in the Prom border area of Panjgur district on Sunday.
According official sources, Iranian border security forces fired at least nine rockets that exploded in the Prom area. One of the rockets hit a pick-up truck.
