GILGIT: The Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) government has constituted a special committee to determine the reason behind the rising number of suicide cases in Ghizer district.
As many as 10 cases of suicide have been reported from the district in May, police officials said.
This week alone, police reports suggested, a young woman jumped into a river in Gahkuch while another young woman threw herself into the river in the Hundur village of Yasin Tehsil.

GILGIT: Every third child of primary school going age out of 10 are out of school in Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B).
This was revealed in the first report on the number of out-of-school children in the region prepared by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the Education Department of G-B, the Federal Ministry of Education and Professional training and with support from the Lahore University of Sciences.

ISLAMABAD: The Awami Workers Party (AWP) activists on Wednesday staged a protest in front of the National Press Club, demanding the release of their leader Baba Jan.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police on Tuesday informed the Supreme Court that the federal capital, AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan had become centres of illegal kidney trade, while people in numerous villages of Punjab had just one kidney.

The government has not passed budget of the Gilgit Baltistan Council even after 11 months of this financial year to be closed on June 30.
