WASHINGTON (CNN): The US military dropped America’s most powerful non-nuclear bomb on ISIS targets in Afghanistan Thursday, the first time this type of weapon has been used in battle, according to US officials.
A GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast Bomb (MOAB), nicknamed the “mother of all bombs,” was dropped at 7:32 p.m. local time, according to four US military officials with direct knowledge of the mission. The leader of Hezb-e-Islami Gulbuddin Hekmatyar may return to Kabul even before sanctions relief or removal of party leaders’ name from the UN blacklist.
According to a statement released by Hezb-e-Islami party, Hekmatyar has called on the government to enforce the peace deal, slamming certain countries that attempt to hinder the peace agreement signed between the party and the Afghan government.
The statement further added that the government should release the prisoners of the party and assist the refugees with the arrangement of residence against Hekmatyar’s return to Kabul.

At least 58 militants including 10 loyalists of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group were killed during the counter-terrorism operations, the Ministry of Defense (MoD) claimed Tuesday.
According to an operational update by MoD, the militants were killed in the past 24 hours in various parts of the country during the counter-terrorism operations supported by the Afghan Air Force and artillery units of the Afghan army.
MoD further added that the operations were conducted in Nangarhar, Kapisa, Logar, Paktia, Paktika, Ghazni, Badakhshan, Balkh, and Helmand provinces.

Residents in the southern province of Kandahar on Wednesday expressed deep concern over the sale of Taliban and Daesh propaganda in the city, saying this could easily influence the youth in a negative way.
“These videos cause ethical harm as well, because they can mislead our youths,” another resident Matin said.

Two top commanders of the loyalists of Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group were arrested and at least ten others were killed during the counter-terrorism operations in East of Afghanistan.

At least 21 Taliban insurgents were killed in separate airstrikes conducted in central Logar province of Afghanistan, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said Monday.
The ministry further added that two key commanders of the group were also among those killed.
“Acting upon confirmed intelligence reports, Air Forces stormed a hideout of armed Taliban in Charkh district of Logar province yesterday evening, killing 21 armed Taliban and destroying their weapons and ammunition,” MoI said.

The governor of Bamyan province’s Shibar District has survived a Taliban ambush.
Mohammad Azim Farid, the district governor, after arriving at a safe location said that he was going from Bamyan city to his office in Shibar when he came under Taliban ambush on Saturday.
He said Taliban fired light and heavy weapons on their vehicles but luckily did not hit anyone.
Farid added that including him all passengers of the vehicles survived but one vehicle damaged in the militant fire.

At least 10 Taliban insurgents were killed and 19 others were wounded during a series of air and artillery strikes in northern Faryab province.
The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the raids were conducted in the restive Qaisar district of Faryab.
The anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.

Over 400 leaders of the Taliban group were killed in the past 9 during the operations conducted by the Afghan Special Forces, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) officials said Wednesday.
MoI spokesman Sediq Sediqi said the Minister of Interior Taj Mohammad Jahid praised the Special Operations Forces of the Afghan National Police during an event in Kabul today.
