Afghanistan approves, in principle, strategy to fight ISIS terror group By KHAAMA PRESS – Mon May 30 2016

The Afghanistan National Security Council (NSC) approved in principle the strategy to fight the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group as the loyalists of the terror group are attempting to expand foothold in the country.

Chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the NSC meeting, discussed regarding the strategy to fight the terrorist group in the country.

A statement by the Office of the President said the NSC meeting hailed the relevant security institutions for preparing the strategy to fight the terror group.

The statement further added that the relevant institutions were also instructed to take all necessary steps to hit and destroy the terror group in Afghanistan and prevent the terrorist activities of the group in the country.

This comes as the Afghan National Security and Defense Forces (ANSDF) together with the US forces in Afghanistan are regularly targeting the loyalists of the terror group.

The US forces stepped up airstrikes against the loyalists of ISIS after they were granted more authorities by the US President Barack Obama.

The decision to step up fight against the terror group was taken amid concerns that the loyalists of ISIS are attempting to expand foothold in the country, establish a regional operational base in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan and consolidate operations with the terror group in Iraq and Syria.http://www.khaama.com/afghanistan-approves-in-principle-strategy-to-fight-isis-terror-group-01117
