PTI, PPP had their CMs in that meeting too: Pervaiz By Azeem Samar in The News, October 25, 2016

KARACHI: Referring to a news story allegedly leaked to the media about a meeting between the army and civilian leadership, Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Pervaiz Rashid said those who point fingers at the government had two of their ministers present in that meeting.

He said Imran Khan should wait for the court’s verdict on the issue of PanamaLeaks and there was no justification for staging a sit-in in Islamabad. He said Imran Khan has been doing politics of ‘Nadir Shah. The agenda of Imran Khan matches with that of anti-Pakistan forces as he doesn’t want the completion of CPEC project and allow Pakistan to progress, said the minister Monday.

Rashid was talking to newsmen after meeting the bereaved family of slain Qawwal Amjad Sabri to give them a cheque of Rs10 million on the behalf of the prime minister as compensation for his heirs.

To a question, he said the issue of PanamaLeaks had been under consideration of the Supreme Court as November 1 was set as the date for hearing of this case by the apex court. In this regard, notices have been issued to all the concerned parties to the case, including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Imran Khan. The prime minister has welcomed this development. There is no justification for the sit-in when the issue of Panama Leaks was being heard by the court, said Rashid.

“Imran Khan should wait for decisions of the judiciary as we will not demand an apology from Imran Khan in case the court’s decision comes in favour of the govt. Instead, we will only ask him to show remorse in front of the nation,” said the information minister. Rashid told newsmen on the occasion that the federal government would ensure implementation on all the laws concerned for continuation of routine activities of life in Islamabad during the upcoming protest in the federal capital.

Responding to a question, he said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan and PPP leader Aitzaz Ahsan had been pointing fingers towards the government regarding a recent controversial news item. “I ask them that the meeting, from which this news item was leaked, was also attended by the chief ministers of the parties of Imran Khan and Aitzaz Ahsan but why fingers were pointed on us only. Why fingers are not pointed toward their parties also?” he questioned.

He said that if Imran and Aitzaz Ahsan possess any evidence regarding this issue, then they should present them in the court of law or provide them to the investigation agencies. He said the government was investigating the issue of controversial news item.

Rashid said that results of the investigation would be presented before the media whenever the probe was completed against those who had committed a violation of their oath of allegiance. “The month of October is in progress and this is the month of doing palace intrigues against the prime ministers of the country. The palace intrigues against the prime ministers were set into motion from October 1951.” He said the first victim of such an intrigue was the first prime minister of the country Liaquat Ali Khan who was martyred in the month of October at a time when he showed his fist to the world and was uniting the nation. That fist was an icon of unity of Pakistani nation, he added.

In October, 1991, an intrigue was made against the then prime minister Nawaz Sharif. The attempt to murder Benazir Bhutto was also made in October, 2007. Now, the month of October, 2016, is in progress and the series of such intrigues was continuing and Imran Khan was part of such conspiracies, he added.

He said that conspiracies were being hatched against the prime ministers of Pakistan, but the patriotic people and those wishing well for the country would not allow such intrigues to succeed.

To a question as to who were the forces active behind such palace intrigues, he said that roots of such conspiracies had links with the anti-Pakistan forces. Imran Khan doesn’t want progress of the country as he has been doing politics of “Nadir Shahi”.

Regarding the protest planned by the PTI in Islamabad on November 2, 2016, Pervaiz Rashid said that Islamabad was the capital city of Pakistan and the government was under obligation to ensure the writ of law there. “We are informing the people of Islamabad that routine activities of life should continue there,” he added. He said the government would not allow anyone to shut down Islamabad under a protest drive and would use all the laws available to ensure writ of law for continuity of normal routines of life in federal capital. He said the government would unite its forces with democratic forces for combating the politics of spreading disunity.

To a question whether the government was going to impose a ban on the faction of MQM in Karachi showing allegiance with London-based leadership of the party, Pervaiz Rashid said that an entire group could not be punished for the crime of a single person. The law will take its own course. He said the people of Karachi were intelligent and they would take decisions on their own using power of their vote in the forthcoming general elections of 2018.

The information minister said that an investigation was continuing in the murder of Amjad Sabri and his murderers would be nabbed soon like other high-profile crime cases pertaining to Karachi had been lately resolved. www.thenews.com.pk/print/159775-PTI-PPP-had-their-CMs-in-that-meeting-too-Pervaiz
