At least 88 Daesh fighters were killed in a military operation conducted by Afghan security forces in eastern Nangarhar province over the past 48 hours, local official said on Wednesday.
The operation was launched in Kot district in the province after the insurgents attacked security forces’ outposts on Friday night, Nangarhar governor spokesman Attaullah Khogyani confirmed.
He added that the military operation is moving forward steadily in order to prevent civilian casualties.
The battle in Kot district has so far left over 400 families displaced.
